Luna - Pleased to meet you!

Hello, My name’s Luna
I’m a 5 year old pedigree Siberian husky, and I’m leader of the group even though I’m a girl and only quite small and slim compared to the boys like Storm, Blue and Wolf. Did I mention my brother is Ice? Lots of people like seeing us out running together. Ice has bright, blue eyes while I have brown eyes. It’s funny because he thinks he need to look out for me, but really it is the other way round! – I look after him even though he is a lot bigger than me.

The thing I do best of all is run and run and run. I usually go out with one of the boys but I always manage to out run them, especially Storm, who is a bit too slow for me. I’m excited that Blade and Shadow have recently joined our pack, as they are very athletic and I bet they would make great running partners. My mum, Sonia, trusts me to listen to her, she says she would not like to be without me because I always tell the boys which way to go and I work very hard. I have lived with mum, Sonia at Horse and Husky for over 3 years now, so I’m very settled in and really happy here. Mum has a nice picture on her mantlepiece of me and Ice running with her -

I spent today and yesterday up at Wray Campsite and Wray Castle giving husky rides to lots of lovely people. We picked Tasha up and sped off in our new van to the campsite. There was lots of snow on the Lake District hills, which was exciting to see, as we are snowdogs after all! Our mum, Sonia took a really scenic route to get us to the campsite – we drove through Coniston, and saw Coniston Old Man with a dusting of snow on top, and then rounded the icy shores of the lake. Then it was up the steep hill past the scenic looking Tarn Hows, which we’d love to explore next year! We drove down Hawkshead Hill to the pretty village of Hawskhead and coming round the corner, we saw a glimpse of the mightly Langdale hills covered in snow! We all let out a cheer, as we hadn’t seen snow since January – it looked whiter than last year too. Blade and Shadow were talking excitedly about happy they were to now be living in the Lake District.

We got to the campsite and were slightly disappointed that the snow hadn’t covered the ground – hopefully we’ll get more snow very soon! We spent the morning giving rides to our waiting passengers, who we sped around the track much to their enjoyment. We posed as people came up to take our photos and gave us treats; we asked them if they were excited about the snow and they all said they were, and were hoping for a White Christmas this year. We have new tyres on all of our rigs now, which make the rides even smoother than before, and we don’t get any annoying punctures. I told my Dad, Kevin, a funny story yesterday about how we’d all been out in the paddock and Storm had appeared wearing his fancy costume of a Lord, demanding me and Ice to pull him along with him being the passenger! So cheeky of him! Blade had joked that it might take all of us to be able to heave him along!

Up at Wray Castle, we had a perfect view of Lake Windermere with the snowy Langdale hills in the background. We met lots of lovely people and told them all about the different things we get up to. Everybody commented on how beautiful my brother, Ice’s eyes were, and lots of children ran off to their parents asking if they could adopt us as a xmas present.
Next week, we’ll be back at the campsite again – and hopefully it will be covered in lots of fresh, white snow!
Love Luna x
